ERNEST D. CRONIN, M.D.,F.A.C.S
Dr. Ernest Cronin, a Houston native, attended Tulane University and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in 1971. He interned at Kansas City General Hospital, received general surgery training at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston then returned to the medical branch in Galveston for Otolaryngology residency. He then completed the Plastic Surgery residency at St. Joseph Hospital, Houston. He is board certified in both Plastic Surgery and Otolaryngology.
He practiced as a member of the Cronin, Brauer, Biggs Clinic Association for 10 years beginning in 1978. In 1988, the Cohen and Cronin Clinic Association was formed with Dr. Benjamin Cohen.
Dr. Cronin is the past Chief of Staff of CHRISTUS St. Joseph Hospital. He is a past president of the Houston Society of Plastic Surgeons and Texas Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the medical director of the Thomas D. Cronin and Raymond O. Brauer Cleft Palate and Facial Reconstruction Institute. He initiated Operation San Jose in 1983 taking a medical team to Central America to provide plastic surgery services to children with cleft lip and palate problems and has continued this annually. He has been chosen by his peers to be included in The Best Doctors in America each year since 1995.
He has published approximately 32 medical journal or book chapters on plastic surgery.He has helped train many plastic surgeons. He is board certified by both the American Board of Otolaryngology and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is a member in good standing of a number of national medical societies including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery from which he has received the Certificate of Advanced Education in Cosmetic Surgery, and the American Cleft Palate Association. He has received numerous awards.
